App of the Day: Asana Rebel
What It Is
I’ll always be a sucker for apps, especially workout ones. Around five years ago, when the healthy living mentality swept the world, pioneered by none other than Kayla Itsines, I tuned in. This, of course, was because of our all-time favourite thing: health. No matter how many apps I downloaded, through fatigue, procrastination and pain, I have only really found a handful of programs that I like. Then, along came the Asana Rebel App
Why Asana Rebel Is Amazing
I’ll admit; I’ve always been a sucker for apps. Asana Rebel, however, takes the cake.
Asana Rebel is a Yoga app made for busy people. The App Store plug is ‘yoga-inspired fitness; feel sexier and healthier than ever’, which is nice and catchy. It offers two options; a free trial, and a paid subscription. From the very start of the free trial, I knew I loved it. With constantly updating programs, a lovely community, and really nice voice to talk through the exercises, it’s one of the nicest fitness apps I’ve ever tried.
How I’m Using It
I pick my program and set the calendar notifications for three times a week. I’ve spoken to my physio, who has confirmed that it is okay for my health. I will always stress that you should never take anything on that’ll hurt your body. Most workout regimes, like Kayla (no matter how much I admire her), are too thorough or intense for a sick person. With its base in Yoga, rather than endurance or cardio activity.
Most of the workouts are around 15 minutes long. I allow this amount of time into my morning three times a week. Most of the time, I still can’t finish the routine, and that’s okay. It’s all about building up to it, and being positive. Having said that, I do still lie on my mat and listen to the rest of the routine; simply allowing yourself the time to be is nice. For this reason, I really love the voice interface, mainly because she says ‘savasana’ so nicely, and partly because her voice is relaxing enough that she doesn’t wake me if I doze.
Asana Rebel has a nice interface, a timetabled and non-strenuous program of workouts and a fair pricing scheme. So far, it has been one of the best investments for my health. I would 100% recommend any fellow yoga-lover or sick person so give it a whirl, as the results are surprising.
